The Rover

The rover had been given the command to stop five minutes ago. The new command was take and send a photo. All of the engineers waited. A quiet developed loud in its intensity. They have to wait five more minutes for the image to arrive.

One of the junior air force guys tries to whisper, “what do you think it is?” And is shooshed immediately.

What was seen was a large glinting metal object.

What it was no one knew.

The sound that announces new photos dings.

In unison the room turns to the big 50 foot monitor up front.

What is it? That’s the easy part. It shouldn’t be there. That’s what made the older section manager collapse. The shock of seeing a an aircraft cannot be described. Seeing 300 people walking around outside of it, well what the fuck.

I call NYC home and wish the subway went everywhere and Times Square didn't suck. I saw John Turturro once. Maybe it was him. He was wearing a yellow shirt and smiled at me like he knew I knew. I am an Army vet who writes. I like characters who want more then they deserve. I like genre fiction. I love space. I love paladins. One day I might write a paladin in space story. Just you wait. The university of South Florida spit me out with a degree in creative writing and I find myself questioning the sanity of going to a school that advertises a fake beach on its brochure ever since. I intuit grammar. I Got married in 2012 We had twins in 2015. I do a lot of cooking and dog walking and ranting about the unfairness of sentience. 1. My thought was the engineers/air force would receive a message in Chinese within the next minute, “We were here first. Get off our turf. Go home, Yank, or we’ll…” Yea, that last part is easy enough to imagine. So, is it aliens the rover finds? I didn’t get that from this. Unless it’s “illegal aliens.” 🙂
